This course is run over three evenings 6.00 - 9.00 This course covers such aspects as fusing glass to glass, powders and frits to glass, stringers to glass, kiln carving and slumping. It is run with you in mind - make what you want to make rather than what we want you to make. The first evening covers safety, the technical aspect of kiln work and the possibilities. You will then be able to carry out some experimental and trial work just to have some fun whilst learning. Your work will be fired ready for you to see on the second evening. The second evening covers any questions you may have, more experimental work and a look inside the kiln at full temperature. This enables you to appreciate just how hot your work gets. You will be asked to think of a few ideas for week three. The third evening is set aside for you to do as you choose and make your own projects from your own ideas. These can be as traditional or as wild as you like. This could be a slumped plate or dish, some coasters, tiles, splashback or maybe some contemporary work. The chioce is yours. Rest assured, you can talk your ideas over with us and we will offer help whenever we can. The cost for the course is £68.00 which covers materials and firings used on the first two evenings. Materials and firings used on the third evening are charged extra. Your work from the third evening will be fired and ready for collection after the course has finished. £68.00 including materials for the first two sessions. A fascinating course. Suitable for beginners.
The next course starts December 2010 Wednesday 8th December, 15December, 22nd December.
